June 19th, “Juneteenth,” commemorates the liberation of African Americans, and emphasizes the dynamism of Black community and culture. The day-long holiday is sometimes celebrated for a week or even month. Family gatherings, speakers, marches, and festivals honor the sacrifices and resilience of Black people.
